Art Criticism Process: Step 1 Describe: describe what you see, what colors you might see, what kinds of images you see. Step 2 Analyze: what principles did they use, separate the parts or elements, thinking in terms of textures, shapes/forms, light/dark or bright/dull colors, types of lines, and sensory qualities. Step 3 Interpret: What was the artist trying to say with this art piece. Step 4 Judgement: personal evaluation based on the understanding of the work Section 2I drew Crescent Moon Darnel from the book series The Lunar Chronicles, in a monarch butterfly costume. I Didn't color anything in I only used my pencil for shading. I used thin straight lines through out. I shaded in the Monarch WIngs with my pencil to show a heavy contrast between the white and the pencil. I drew Crescent because she's the space version of my favorite disney princess, Rapunzel. I also drew her because The Lunar Chronicles is my favorite book series of all time. It's the second half of who I am and it never fails to get me out of a bad situation. This was my second drawing of Crescent Moon, I like this one more than the first but I wish I took more time with the hair and added a little bit more detail and time into the piece, as it was a ten minute sketch. Three Questions Question 7: The point of Art 1 is to teach you the basics of how to draw, paint, and do pottery. It is also to get you prepared for Art 2 and every class after that. What I took away from this class is, never to give up on something you're drawing even if you think it looks bad you have to keep trying to make improvement. This class has helped me with starting to draw again now I do it everyday and even when I don't realize it, I find myself doodling. I used to draw in 2017 because of really bad anxiety but now, I do it for pure fun this class has helped me with that.
Question 4: There are millions of reasons as to why artist make art, it could be vent art, it could also be out of sheer boredom. It could be for someone for example a portrait of their mom or dad. Question 8: The warm up I found most useful was the eye warm up, after I learned how to draw eyes properly, I started drawing them more and more and learning how to draw the iris differently and making them a lot more realistic.

The warm up I thought was the most helpful was the eye. Now that I know that you're supposed to draw a circle as a base and everything after that, I find myself drawing eyes very often. I found that your eyes length is five circles, but two circles away from your nose, surprising.
I did my portrait of Rapunzel from the movie Tangled. Growing up this was my absolute favorite Disney princess and movie, so when this project was announced I instantly of Rapunzel. I used color pencil for my medium. I started with sketching it out, I then fixed her jaw and her eyes, next, I used a black color pencil to make the lines sharper, last but not least I colored it in. If I were to do this project again I'd do my sketch as perfect as I can get and then fill it all in, I would also use Prisma color instead of color pencil. About:
My inspired artist is Ana Frois. Ana Frois graduated from the university of Commbria in architecture where she first focused on only architecture where in later years she dedicated her time to drawing and visual arts. She now lives and works in Comibra, Portugal. Greenhouse: one of her many art work pieces is called Greenhouse. Ana foris describes it on her website "I have always been interested by ‘things’ and in trying to understand the feeling of an object, or the mystery of it. That’s something that fascinates me about greenhouses: their mystery — the fact they preserve an interior world you can’t immediately access from the exterior. I really love the idea of not being able to see inside." Ana uses Blue acrylics and Chinise white pencil. Why I chose this artist: I chose Ana foris because like her I'm really interested in plants of all kinds and nature in general. When I saw her art I was instantly drawn to it, so I knew that's who would be my inspired artist. |
